DESCRIPTION PHOTO Port Marina
terracotta doors
In reality it is a counter door built a few meters from the real entrance to the village, on the access ramp, which was mainly used to dampen the heat of the charges of the besiegers. Of the original, demolished in the early 1900s, only the terracotta decoration of the arch installed above the current archway remains.
Of pleasant scenic impact, it leans against the remains of the eastern civic walls and the battlements have been added in recent times.
A loophole completes the defense of the structure, while a votive shrine has been obtained in the thickness of the walls near which a sandstone depicting a mermaid and two peacocks drinking from a source is walled.
Further on there is a bottleneck that leads into the road network of the village: here stood the ancient Porta Marina, visible in some vintage photos.
Lapedona, Province of Fermo, Italy. Tourist Attraction
What to see in the province of Fermo Fermo Piazza del Popolo. It is the symbolic place of Fermo: beautiful and snubbed. Outside the region they speak of it as one of the most beautiful squares in Italy; in the city and in the surrounding area it often evokes only memories of adolescent 'pools'. Yet it is a magical place. Kissed by the sun or warmed by a thousand lights after sunset, it offers unique suggestions. Under the arcades and in the alleys it gives life to, there are several places where you can stop and eat and drink something: bars, pizzerias and wine bars with a unique atmosphere. The splendid municipal library with the Mappamondo room and the antiques market deserve a mention, which animates summer evenings in the heart of the city on Thursdays. Gole dell’Infernaccio. For those who love walking in the mountains, the Gorges of the Infernaccio are a must. Paths, streams and waterfalls near Rubbiano, on the enchanted Sibillini Mountains: they are easy to reach and offer a route suitable for all ages. Silence, peace and serenity to breathe deeply, up to the hermitage of San Leonardo. Wonderful colors in autumn.
