Torrione della Battaglia dates back to the mid-sixteenth century and is inserted in the walls built when, after the invasion and sacking of the pirates of Ulcinj, in 1525, the old walls were strengthened by a new fortified wall. According to tradition, the father of Pope Sixtus V Peretti also collaborated in the construction of the tower.
